Experts fear nation's waterways need rescuing — from us
by Radka Konkolova

All over the world, there are almost the same problems, especially with nature and people's coexisting with it. People use a great amount of natural sources and so the also produce amounts of garbage. And because they have to give them somewhere, a dump can accrue. And when there is poor control, dangerous matters or poisons can get into the soil or into the water. People also have to, and want to, use all available resources to make their industry more efficient. So they have started to build dams to regulate water, it's power and it's quantity as well. But in some cases, it wasn't a good solution, probably.
Anyway, there are many restoration projects, not only in the US, where people, different organizations, which are friendly to the environment and governments as well, are trying to “save” nature. In my opinion it is very difficult, expensive if not impossible...

In the US they want to restore almost all waterways, especially those in New Mexico. Federal agencies, states, etc. invest quite large deal of their budget to these restoration projects, which should reverse threats of climate and population changes. Experts predict that in the future, in 20 years, three quarters of the Earth population will suffer from fresh water scarcity.
Many rivers in Southwest of United States have been damaged in one way or another and it will be very hard to get them better, but people should try to do it, because in the comparison with Southeastern United States, the situation here is more serious. Most people consider Georgia in Southeast of the US maybe as a “small paradise”, because almost everyone associates it with verdant hills and full brooks, rivers, generally streams.
In order to get things better, in New Mexico, along the Santa Fe river, a dozen of volunteers with Rosemary Lowe have spent a day by planting willows or similar native trees, because they want to improve their environment, not only along the river. It was really hard work and it takes a time till every part of the world will seem like this one. But I think it's on the best way.
