New Ocean Hall will be opened Beata Novomeska

The Smithsonian's national Museum of Natural History will open a new exhibit in September 2008 which is called Ocean Hall and it is dedicated to marine science and developed in collaboration with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration in Washington. They worked together to develop the new hall for five years. The administration of museum decided to open this exhibition because the oceans are a global system that is essential to all life in Earth as Smithsonian's Secretary Cristian Samper said. The exact day of opening the museum is September, 27 and greatness of hall is 23,000 square-foot. It is the largest remodeling since it was opened in 1910. Mary Glackin, deputy undersecretary for oceans and atmosphere at the national Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration said that the oceans and life in oceans shapes our lives every day. It follows that oceans and life in them are very important for us and influence every day of our lives. It is inspiring to track the ocean life and it is possible to come to certain conclusions about life generally. The oceans hide many secrets which we don't know yet and they are waiting for their finding. There will be interesting attractions in museum which probable attract many people. There will be a coral reef with dozens of plants and animals that live on reefs. Later on there will be exhibited Basilosaurus skeleton. Basilosaurus was a whale which lived 36 to 40 million years ago in the late eocene period. The skeleton was excavated from a clay quarry on the Alabama-Mississippi border in the late 1800's. Hen there will be displayed the seven-foot tall jaw of a prehistoric shark. It can be very impressive. As people live on Earth, too there will be displaying of 26-foot canoe which will illustrate the human connection to the sea. Moreover, there will be displaying that shows how the ocean together with land and the atmosphere make a complex global system. There will be temporary shows every 18 months. The first one of them is “Going to Sea” which tells us why people in history went on the ocean. Another expositions will be stable. There will be many things to see and to find, so we are looking forward to September and to opening an interesting exhibition which I suppose will have a big success, it will clarify the mysteries of ocean and attract people who understand why the ocean is so essential for our life.
