The ancient province called Thracia was a really extended historic area. It occupies parts of present day Bulgaria and parts of modern Greece, Turkey, Macedonia and Romania. Historicians describes Thracians as an ancient people that inhabited the lands between 4,000 B.C. and the 6th century, when, at the end, they were assimilated by the Slavs incursion into their territory.
However, it is the first time a chariot has been found completely well-preserved. Although, the team discovered many funeral gifts such as table pottery, glass vessels, etc., that probably belonged to some wealthy aristocrat. In a different grave at the Thracian funerary mound archeologists discovered skeletons of two horses, also with its gear made of bronze and leather. It is expected, about 10,000 Thracian mounds to be scattered across the country.
The Culture Ministry donated financial support $3,900 to the team's exploration, and at the same time officialy confirmed the discoveries. To addition, an amount of $7,800 will be granted by the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences for purpose of restoration and conservation of the findings.
