Secret of Optical Illusions
by Beata Novomeska

Some secrets of optical illusions were discovered. It is amazing! Now we know what is hidden between optical illusion and what it means for us. Everything lies behind a neural lag. When light comes to our retina it last about one-tenth of a second before brain translates the signal into visual perception of the world. The researcher who occupied with this concern came to conclusion that it is our visual system that has evolved to compensate for neural delays. His name is Mark Changizi. He is working at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in New York. By the same principles we can explain another optical illusions. He said that illusions occur when our brain attempts to perceive the future and perceptions don't match reality. For example known illusion is the Hering illusion which looks like bike spokes around central point. It makes illusion that we are moving forward and switches on our future-seeing abilities. The reality is that we aren't moving and the figure is static. It is very interesting to keep track how illusion arises and function. It is established on processes in our body. Mark Changizi explains another theory about optical illusions. It is grand unified theory. He says that when we are moving, it is not just the shape of objects that changes. There are other variables, such as the angular size, speed and contrast between the object and background, which are also change. For example, if there are two objects about the same distance in front of you and if you move to one of them, it looks larger, has lower contrast and get nearer to you when you compare it with another one. The world around us, it is very interesting and hides many secrets which can be in time revealed. Many interesting things about this subject you can find in video: How to Time Travel, in article Study Reveals How Magic Works and Top 10 Mysteries of the Mind.
