The very special Expedition 16 by Nina Nevidzanska

It is just few hours since the shuttle Endeavour landed the Kennedy Space Center situated in Orlando, Florida with the seven astronauts aboard. The Expedition 16 (according to the 16 days lasting mission), was a very special one!!! The main goal of this spaceflight to the International Space Station was the delivery of a newest type of a robot ever. Japanese researches have been working on developing so called DEXTER robot for a long time. Dexter robot is the most developed robot with the moves of a human being. It is able to learn from mistakes it made, but the most important of its features is the capability to analyze the information collected with a unthinkable speed. All its qualities just do confirm that this robot is really suitable for a space research. Its value overreaches 200 million dollars. It could be said that this is why the spaceship crew participating on The Expedition 16 felt a huge pressure about to succeed in this mission. All of the astronauts are experienced specialist in space research, but only some of them have already flown to the cosmos. For three astronauts was this their first spaceflight ever. As they said after landing, their feelings and experience were indescribable. Even if they all had passed the training in artificial conditions step by step, the real situation is totally different. So the whole mission was a big success, the Dexter robot is now doing its researching job somewhere in the space to enlarge our knowledge about the endless universe science, to move us - the humanity forward again.
